It was dark and the sky was bright with stars, crisp air and wise trees surrounding us. Chaos of people filled the streets, frantic with fear, people being loaded into ambulances, children lost and dazed not knowing where to go. I looked ahead of me and saw people jumping stone walls to get to a building, most of them not even knowing why, but just to escape the gagging smell of fear. Breathing hard I was gasping for the air surrounding me but none of it seemed to enter my lungs and then there was a dull ringing noise in my ear; I looked up to the sky to see the buildings on fire. I screamed and everyone looked up simultaneously. Fire was brought down from the sky and the buildings were entrapped in the fires rage. Rapidly spreading like the flame to a wick, bright orange, yellow, and red engulfed the buildings; radiating like the sun.
I stood staring wide eyed and mouth open like a child first witnessing life, except in all of the orange, the yellow, and the red one only smelled the wretch of death and the fire bursting through the windows; that once brought in sunlight. Yet, there still was no sound, no screams as one may expect just a dull ringing. In a trance fear now left me. For the first time since the flames came down on their pray I looked to my right and I saw you. You with your blue eyes so sharp they cut through my shock like glass. I remembered. I remembered how you let me look into your eyes the first time and let me see your soul. I remembered how you told me that you would find me in the last lifetime we were together. Without hesitation your hand outreached for mine and our palms met; like a key fitting into a lock. You found me, through the chaos and the darkness, you found me. Even with two worlds separating us my hand locked in yours and I knew then our love… mine in life yours in death would never stop.
